Annual Barbecue NOT AGM

"We used to have open house but nobody came."
Not so, Mr Mitchell. The reason why the open house was cancelled is because people like to ask questions and you had no answers. "Tell the truth please" You started fund raising to eliminate the Annual General Meeting (AGM), where the election for the Board of Directors of Community Futures is supposed to happen. I believe an election for the Board of Directors is more important than fund raising. You can stand at the barbecue all you want, but you're not impressing anyone but yourself. If you manage the Community Futures properly, according to the rules, the By-Laws, the contract with WED, then you would impress everyone. You are not in partnership with Western Economic Diversification. You have a contract with WED signed by both parties. Please do not mislead the public. At the open house, which doesn't happen anymore, you get to meet the staff and the Board. If the public asks questions you cancel the AGM and you cancel the open house and you go make hamburgers and you're proud of yourself. You state that "Few people know Community Futures is a small business lending program." It is not a lending program. It is a program to diversify the economy, specifically not to compete with the existing businesses.
You state that someone said "Oh, you're the people who give all the money away."
People are telling the facts the way they see it. Give all the money to the friends before anyone else knows there is money available and not necessarily through loans. We know the details.
You say you are better than the bank. I asked the manager of the bank in 2000 and she told me "If we were running the bank like they are running the Community Futures, we would all be out of a job in a week."
You can blow your horn all you want, we know what you guys did and are still doing. You just like to perpetuate the problem and not run the place according to the rules and that's not acceptable in a Democratic society.

  1. Once again we see rules and regulations are for other people, not for CF or WED.

Congratulations Fred, for standing up as David did against Goliath. One day one of your little stones will find its target and kill the beast we know as Community Futures, and their bosses at WED, who as we know are but stooges for their political masters in our federal government.

    Dear Fred:
I see you're at your old tricks again. Now you're chirping about a silly barbeque? You need to move on, man, and stop being such an old stick-in-the-mud about this issue. In fact, you're being an outright moron.
Who cares if a public figure wants to host a barbeque? It's good PR, no?
I know for a fact that the open house wasn't cancelled because people asked questions of the directors. I have my own proof. I know full well about your little situation there because I lived on the island before moving to the beautiful Crowsnest Pass. Why don't you tell the actual truth and facts instead of spewing a bunch of nonsense about someone flipping burgers. Your blog is so one-sided and misleading it is sickening.

  3. Dear Jason,
I can see how smart you are. You can't even write your own name properly. There is no tricks in what I am doing. This is the facts of life but for a no mind like you it would be too hard to understand. You called me a moron. Coming from a retard like you, I believe you don't even know what the word means. You state "A public figure" This guy is an employee of a society like the wellfare office for businesses. If you want to give some money to businesses, that's ok by me, but make sure they don't compete with the ones that borrow their money from the bank like stated in your contract. You say "Good PR" No, no, just bullshit.
"You know for a fact" Hey retard! I was at the open house, I was the one asking the questions. Is this not proof? If you were not so ignorant you would have looked at this link and inform yourself before blabbing away and looking like an empty head who can't sleep.

  4. Have you spoken to your MP? How about your MLA?

  5. Hi Doug,

Those are two very good questions.
"Have you spoken to you MP?"
I did, you can read the letter that Mr Rushton sent to Ottawa about eliminating all the catigories of Members at large and in the same letter, saying, this was sanctioned by the members of the corporation when they don't have any such members. That is being very careless with the truth. I will post those letters for you to be able to read them because I can't do it through a comment. Mr Landry from John Duncan's office (the MP) requested they demonstrate how the last two Boards of Directors had been formed, they never responded to their request. They even said to Mr Landry they would correct their screw up by February 6th 2012. Now it's April 13th 2012 and never made it to Ottawa yet. Why? I contacted Ottawa today. It would be impossible to have crooked Federal Politicians if we did not have crooked Local Politicians. I'll tell you what they do. They started local societies, many of them, Advisory Commissions, all kinds of Committees and they appoint themselves to these organizations to cut the public right out of Democracy. In other words, "Vote for me and get lost, I'll do it all for you." I don't know about the legal part of this but I sure know it's not ethical, honest or just. If this makes you curious, continue to ask questions. Democracy is on the back burner in Port Mc Neill. We have to change that by speaking out, asking questions and questioning the answers of the shysters.

  6. Hi Doug,
I lost your comment somewhere and I cannot publish it. If you want to re-send it I will put it up because I like it. We hear all over the news that volunteering is on the decline of 2% annually, amounting to 20% in the next decade. This number brings up the question, how many good people try to volunteer but are turned down by some shysters in power? The public assumes that volunteering is declining because fewer people want to volunteer or the just don't care!!!! But could it be a horror story that brings about this decline? Do prospective volunteers face bariers that stop them from participation? Yes they do. Around here they have to compete with the politicians that want to volunteer also in the same mandate that they are elected to manage. In fact, our Community Futures Development Corporation of Mount Waddington states "Our volunteer Board governs this organization" when in fact the Board of Directors has to be elected by volunteers every year. They play with words just to confuse the public and only the shysters are permitted to participate. Mr David Rushton, the Chair of CFDCMW went over the top and eliminated all the volunteers that could participate in the By-Laws #1 so called "Members of the Corporation". When this organization promotes volunteerism but discourages the people by denying them access to be Members of the Corporation but we, the public are not allowed to know or see how the Board of Directors finds their way in these seats of power. Very few control the many. From which authority? We don't know. Volunteering is a legitimate way in which citizens can participate in the activities of their community, specifically Community Economic Development (CED) that is the main focus of CFDCMW. We accpet slected volunteers only and mostly politicians or relatives of the people in power. The commoner has no need to apply, we need your power for protection, we have all the ideas.

  7. A non-profit society is set up and run according to an act (in BC this is called the Society Act) and the Board of Directors must follow the rules for running the society according to what's laid out in this act. Doing anything else is clearly breaking the law. The Society Act describes very specific rules for holding an annual AGM and election of the BOD including officers. The budget must be clearly laid out and all costs and incomes accounted for.
Why is the provincial minister in charge of the Act not doing anything? I'm assuming you've talked to him/her, Fred?
